This post is for my friend, Eva Lang, a self-described "foodie." I love going out to eat with Eva because she can always interpret the menu for me (you see I don't cook and come from a meat and potatoes family so I'm a bit handicapped at a nice restaurant).
Food-related websites from this weekend's WSJ (subscription required):
- www.chowhound.com (the granddaddy of the virtual dining world)
- www.egullet.com (upscale site with articles, forums, recipes)
- www.sautewednesday.com (commentary from San Francisco-based food writer)
- www.chocolateandzucchini.com (blog by 26 year old parisian that is all the rage)
- www.thefoodselection.com (New York-centric)
- www.mouthfulsfood.com (community bulletin board)
Bon appetite!
Welcome back to regular blogging!! Glad to have you posting again.
I love good food, infact my wife wrote a cookbook four years ago (www.madatmartha.com) which caused me to be a fat-foodie, and I had to lose 30 pounds!!
If you are a true lover of all things food you need to visit Austin Texas....as there the new Whole Foods Market (their international headquarters and MEGA store) is here. It is unlike anything you have ever seen. It is the top tourist attraction in Austin. My brother said "why are you taking me to a supermarket...we have Whole Foods in California"...then he saw it and said "WOW, we dont have a store like this!!!!"

Barb - Thanks for posting these great links from the WSJ. But don't sell yourself short as a budding foodie.
In addition to these food blogs in the WSJ article (some how they omitted the excellent www.stephencooks.com), I find that the food site I return to most frequently is www.epicurious.com. In addition to great recipes and feature articles from Gourmet and Bon Appetite, they have a food dictionary :)
The Whole Foods in Austin is great but my favorite Austin food emporium is still Central Market (www.centralmarket.com)! Check out the recipe on their site for Grilled Polenta Napoleons with Tomatoes, Basil Pesto and Goat Cheese - yum.
I'll definitely be making a stop there when in Austin this December for the AICPA Business Valuation Conference.
