It is not only hyphen and apostrophe abuse but also grammar problems that plague professional services firms. At our recent Business Valuation conference in Atlanta, one of the highest rated sessions was on common grammar and punctuation errors in valuation reports.

The speaker started out with a grammar quiz that many attendees failed. I will not reveal my own scores but let's just say that I have a "comma issue" that I attribute to a deficient in my education in the Louisiana public school system.

so, do you hyphen "S-Corporation" and "C-Corporation"?

Barbara Walters Price

No, you do not hyphenate "S Corporation" or "C Corporation." When using Microsoft Word, place a hard space between them (i.e., SCorporation) to ensure that you don't orphan the "S" or "C" at the end of a sentence.
