Get past the small talk

In my reading, I came across a great way to begin a conversation with someone and it's a simple but powerful question:

What are you excited about?

We waste a lot of our lives going through the motions before we get to the heart of the matter.  The answer that this question evokes solves that.  I've begun using it in personal conversations and business conversations.  I've yet to have a negative response.  Try it.
